Charles Bertram, Court Conjurer

Nothing expresses more about what kind of magician Charles Bertram was than his presentation for de Kolta's Vanishing Birdcase: Bertram, noting that there is always the risk of hurting the bird, rectified this possiblitly by allowing the bird to excape from the cage just before he was about to make it vanish. He lived at the end of the 19th Century and this account give a good feel for the time and period. A great book to read!
