"Under the above unpretentious title Dai Vernon has created one of the most brilliant problems possible with a pack of cards. Study this carefully, then try to duplicate it by any known method.
From a borrowed deck all the picture cards and aces are removed. These are segregated by placing the ace, jack, queen, and king of each suit in a separate pile. In other words, each of four piles contain the ace, jack, queen and king of the same suit.
Now spectator picks up one pile and on turning it over finds it to consist of, say, the four jacks. He picks up another pile and this consists of, say the four kings. The third pile is all aces and the last pile the four queens.
